AsiaBlight Technical Training Workshop | Oct 29- Nov 3, 2025

Technical training

The AsiaBlight Fungicide Sensitivity Training was held from 30 October to 3 November 2025 at the International Potato Center – China Center for Asia Pacific (CCCAP) in Yanqing District, Beijing, following the China Potato Congress in Weifang. The training brought together Regional Representatives and partners from across Asia to strengthen regional capacity in late blight surveillance and fungicide resistance monitoring.

Participants received hands-on laboratory training in fungicide sensitivity testing, pathogen isolation, basic molecular methods (PCR and DNA extraction), and data interpretation. The program emphasized standardized protocols to enable participants to generate comparable data in their home laboratories.

The training was delivered with scientific support from Prof. Sanjoy Guha Roy (West Bengal State University), Prof. Dong Suomeng (Nanjing Agricultural University) and Dr. Han Chen (Nanjing Agricultural University), and coordinated by the International Potato Center. The event strengthened collaboration across the AsiaBlight Network and improved regional readiness for evidence-based late blight management.
